Academic & Service Scholarships


We are committed to serving the needs of the Almaden Valley community and those of greater San Jose through funds raised through our various fundraisers. Every year, some of the proceeds from our events are donated as Academic & Service Scholarships to graduating seniors living in Almaden Valley. Scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic achievement and community service.



WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

High school seniors graduating in the current academic year.

High school seniors anticipated to be enrolled for fall of the upcoming academic year as a full time student in an accredited college, university, community college or trade school.

Students who have a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0.

Students who reside or attend school in the 95118, 95120 or 95123 zip code areas.



APPLICATION SCHEDULE

Completed applications must be submitted online by March 31, 2024.

Official transcripts must be postmarked by March 29, 2024.

Applications are reviewed by our Scholarship Committee in April.

 Scholarship Recipients will be notified by April 19, 2024.

Scholarship Recipients agree to attend the Almaden Valley Women's Club Scholarship and Logo Award Ceremony to be held on May 7, 2024 to receive their scholarship award. No Awards will be mailed. Your attendance is mandatory in order to receive your Scholarship Funds. Families and friends are also invited to attend.

2023 SCHOLARSHIP WINNERS
 
Maggie Dong
Branham High School
Service, sportsmanship, and entrepreneurialism describe Maggie. She has an outstanding academic record and a proven track record of leadership through community service projects, athletic accomplishments, as well as launching a non-profit organization to support youth.

Parana Upadhyaya
Leland High School
Cultural identity, community organizing and collaboration ar some of Pavana's core values. Her focus has been on addressing mental health and addiction issues within her ethnic community. She is President of Leland High School's National Honor Society and is passionate about discovering, celebrating, and enriching her cultural heritage.

Brian Jackson
Leland High School
Brian shared the joy he finds through service and personal development. He volunteers regularly at Kaiser hospital, especially by helping new mothers and their infants. In order to better serve his community, Brian has learned to speak Spanish.

Keirah Chen
Leland High School
Keirah's passion for local politics and social activism led her to become an intern with Matt Mahon's mayoral campaign. She is Editor of her high school newspaper, and writes for the Future of Us and the Almaden Times. She is also a Varsity Cheerleader and belongs to several school clubs.

Andrew Carrasquillo
Saint Francis High School
Andrew has earned the Brother Eamon Schaffer award for service as well as the rank of Eagle Scout. He describes how his faith has developed a heart of service, especially for our most vulnerable communities. In addition, Andrew is a dedicated athlete and plans to play university football next year.

Mack McMillan
Summit Public Schools Tahoma
Patience and compassion are some of the qualities that Mack has shown through their work with Animal Assisted Happiness. They introduced differently-abled children to the therapeutic benefits of interacting with animals. Mack was invited to join the paid staff at ASH after their years of service and increasing responsibilities.

Kadie Reichel
Oak Grove High School
Kadie is described as self-reliant, determined, and creative. She has volunteered for many years at the library because giving back to the community is important to her. In addition to academic achievements, she is a gifted artist.

Megna Nayar
Leland High School
Megna developed a course for low-income students to learn computer science through 4-H. She now trains other teens to lead the course so that more students are able to participate. In addition to outstanding academic achievement, Megna is a Varsity Lacrosse player and involved in several student organizations.
